Many people, when they get heart attacks or may be even severe heart problems, they go in for heart surgeries. But for this you must have at least a little information about heart surgeries. So now in this article you will get to know about that. There are many various types of surgical procedures that are used commonly to treat heart attacks & various other heart problems, & even chest pain. Treatments like angioplasties help open the arteries that are clogged. In some cases, a stint is placed in the artery to keep it help open. In a coronary artery bypass surgery, a healthy vessel is taken from different parts of your body & connected in your heart to bypass the area which is blocked. You must remember that, when someone gets a heart attack, act immediately. Even if you suspect that it is you who is having a heart attack, do not hesitate, immediately call the help line number or your local doctor’s number. If you do not have access to those numbers, call up any of your friends or relatives & take their help to reach you to the nearest hospital. If no help, then no other alternative, you yourself will have to drive all the way to the clinic. But yes, driving yourself puts you & as well at risk if your condition suddenly worsens. If your doctor has prescribed any emergency medicine such as nitroglycerin, take it as per the instructions given by the doctor while waiting for the arrival of emergency medical personnel. If you are trained in some of the emergency procedures, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which helps the delivery of oxygen to the body & brain. But if you are not trained in those, it is recommended by the doctors to do mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing & proceeding directly to chest compression. The reason for this is that if you are distracted by trying to perform the unfamiliar mouth-to-mouth breathing techniques, the few valuable minutes which can save the person’s life might be lost. The most important thing you can do is to directly proceed to do the chest compression so that delivery of blood to vital organs takes place, particularly to the brain & the heart. Do chest compressions at a rate of 100 compressions per minute. With each passing minute after you or anyone gets heart attack, more & more tissues are deprived of oxygen & either deteriorates or dies. The main way to prevent this excessive damage is to restore the blood flow as quickly as possible. Doctors may give you aspirin in the emergency room, which inhibits the clotting of blood, which helps maintain the flow of the blood through some narrowed artery. Initial treatment of a heart attack in the emergency room may also involve aspirin or some medications which the doctor prescribes, such as, Thrombolytics, Superaspirins, some of the pain relievers, or any other blood-thinning medications will also do. But do not consume these without the prescription of the doctor. So I hope this article has helped all you heart patients, as well as the others, out there. |
