If the title of this article sounds a little strange, good. I want to get you thinking a little bit with what I am about to share with you today. See, so many marketers live in their own little world and don't realize that in order to connect with the outside world, or their prospects, they have to become a part of that outside world. I'm going to give you a few examples of what I am talking about and hopefully you'll get it. Getting traffic means being traffic. Let's start with video. One of the biggest things today on the Internet is video. Look at YouTube. The Alexa rank is about 4. www.impacts-popup.com There is almost no site with more traffic. And many marketers use YouTube in order to get traffic to their sites by putting up videos with URLs embedded in them. But for those of you who do this, do you actually spend time at YouTube looking to see what people are watching? Do you make note of what the most popular videos are? If you don't, how are you going to be able to make videos that are going to appeal to others? Don't go by your personal preferences because those preferences may not coincide with the masses. Another big thing online today is Squidoo. Building lenses is a great way of getting traffic to your other sites or selling your products and services. But when was the last time you went to Squidoo to see what the most popular lenses are? If you don't know what it is that people like to read and see, you have very little chance of creating a lens that is going to appeal to the public at large. Again, don't go by your own preferences. What about Internet marketing tactics in general? Do you ever go searching on the Internet to see what the new forms of advertising are? www.free-ad-system.com Are you up with the latest? The only way to do this is to actually become part of the traffic that searches out these items. This means going to search engines, blogs, message boards, and just about anywhere else where this information can be found. The marketers who have the most success online are the ones who are actually a part of the world they are trying to reach. I spend at least one hour each day becoming a part of this community and I never fail to learn something. |
