There’s no escaping from the fact that TVs are a major part of modern family life. The amount of television watched varies from person to person, but many do not consider the amount of time they spend on games consoles as viewing time. Including games, programmes and DVD videos, people often spend quite a large proportion of their day looking at the TV screen. This means it is important to ensure that a television is placed in the ideal location. There is a lot of debate as to whether children and teenagers should be allowed TVs in their bedrooms. Some parents say as long as it is properly supervised it is not a problem, whereas others are extremely opposed. Children themselves tend to want their very own screen! But what about bedrooms in general? Should a couple have a one in their shared room? In general, people agree on the basic principles of bedroom decorating. They are a place for relaxation and to unwind at the end of the day. With this is mind, mild colours and simplicity are often ideal. Bedrooms should not be cluttered or confusing, and working from bedrooms should be avoided. These basic rules all help to move the mind towards sleep. Having loads of washing to do on the floor and a busy work desk can lead to thinking about what needs still to be done etc, causing poor sleep or even insomnia. Some feel that TVs have the same impact, keeping the mind active and alert rather than calming it. This may be true in some cases, but it depends a lot on what is viewed and where a television is placed. TV wall mounts allow for a screen to be fixed higher up for ease of viewing from bed. This can take away the need to sit up in bed in order to view – and let’s face it - that can disturb sleep! Mounting this way also prevents the TV taking up surface space and adding to clutter. The focal point of any bedroom should be the bed itself. It should look inviting and stand out; this can be achieved by adding splashes of colour in the form of cushions or throws. A large amount of people watch the TV in bed, and there are many reasons given for this. Parents often enjoy having space away from the children where they can view shows that they like in peace when possible. Some find watching soothing programmes at night can keep their mind off their worries. Many TVs can be programmed to turn off automatically after a certain amount of time, which means a viewer can fall asleep in the knowledge the electricity bill should not climb too high! As TV wall mounts can allow for a more comfortable viewing position in bed, they make falling asleep easier.Sometimes couples disagree about whether they should have a television in their bedroom. If this is the case, headphones can be used to prevent sound disturbing others, and TV wall mounts can allow for a TV to be placed out of the way and covered if necessary.
