Everywhere you look these days people are moaning about the recession. Thousands of websites are offering penny-pinching tips and these range from watering the plants with your bath water which makes sense, to getting in to your bath fully clothed and washing your clothes along with the rest of you.
We're all resigned to having less to spend on the things which we want and want to buy for others, but we'd rather keep our fab lifestyles, thanks very much. As seasons change and stores go into administration we see less being spent on the high street and more being spent online. That's good in some ways (there are less tempting impulse purchases online) but it's also bad in other ways (there are less tempting impulse purchases online.)
When questioned on projected spending many people say they'll have to forgo this year's holiday to make ends meet. We don't have to give up all our treats though and when times are a little bit tougher the hard work can actually help to bring people together.
Having to think of interesting, affordable and rewarding ways to get gifts can be a good thing. It could teach all the people who were big spenders during the economic boom time a thing or two about money. It also means we'll be more thoughtful about the presents we give people and they could end up getting something less expensive and more meaningful.
Thoughts That Count
One wonderful way to feel great, get a mini break and give a gift that really means something is to give experience days as gifts. Experience Days are growing in popularity and if you haven't heard of them before they're special activities which you can purchase in advance and give to the people you love as special gift tickets. Without sounding like I'm selling them, at times like this, they've got a ton of benefits.
One advantage is that there are so many types to choose from. This means you can always find an experience day which really suits the person you're giving it to. There are dance lessons, flying lessons, and even the chance to drive a Ferrari around Silverstone. You name it, there's experience days offering the opportunity to try it.
More than that though, experience days are memorable. Great memories are surely the best gift you can ever give someone?
Excellent Memories
Who could forget their first professional photo shoot where they felt like a pretty model? Or the first time they got behind the wheel of a Ferrari 360 and tore up the track? It's even more memorable if the people you love are sharing it, enjoying it and in some cases even filming it with you.
Many people have unrealised dreams. You know the sort? Those pesky childhood dreams? Things you always wanted to do but never got the time or money to accomplish. Perhaps they always wanted to fly an airplane or go surfing but never had the time or money and that makes experience days extra special. It means you can help your friends and family to realise their dreams and often go along for the ride too.
Satisfy Lifelong Dreams
If there's someone in your life who just won't stop singing at you let her sing her heart out at a recording studio experience day! Or if you have a friend who was obsessed with diggers as a little boy, there are even gift packs where you can go and operate a genuine CAT digger for the day. Crazy huh? The options are barmy, there's literally something for everyone.
In fact, there are too many options to list, more than you would probably imagine, so you'll have to take a look yourself. Just try not to find too many things that you want to do, or you'll have to start dropping major hints to your friends and family.
Another cool thing about experience days is that they are often interactive, - with the car experience days you can cheer on your friend as he speeds around the track at Silverstone and take some photos (fun for the whole family!)
Or with some other experience days you can buy them for two or more people, so that you can learn to dance with the man of your dreams or get a glam makeover with your best friend. In that respect, they can be a sly gift for yourself as well as the person you're giving the gift to.
So, why worry about the recession or not being able to afford a holiday this year? If you give experience days to your friends and family you can have just as much fun as usual and share it with them too!
